Hope someone can help with this?
I have exported a song onto my pc for the first time from my newly acquired Dp sd 24, I can play the song back on the pc and see the wav files and song name, but only when the USB cable is connected and enabled, can't open audio depot either when USB is disconnected
Any ideas please?

Yes, naturally, if you don't copy the audio files from the Audio Depot onto your PC, then the only way you can view them is via the USB connection. The USB connection is not a USB audio interface it is a file transfer connection only.

Thanks for your reply,
When I go into the menu , with the USB cable connected, I click on USB connection , the message on screen then says
USB connected push yes to disable.
After watching a tascam official video, I should be able to press the Home button to return to the home screen, no matter which button i press I cant get back to the home screen or menu screen to complete the export, If I press yes and disable the USB, I can then go into the menu to the Audio depot file and tick the tracks I want to export, but of course they will not transfer if the USB connection is not enabled, Should I be able to exit the USB connection screen back to the home screen thus staying connected to the pc?

The answer to your last question is: no

When you enable the USB connection from the DP to your computer.... the DP's file directory can now be seen on your computer. **This temporarily suspends ALL other DP functionality** - until you disable the USB connection.

This is simply a utility function which facilitates moving files either to or from the DP and computer.

There is nothing to complete. You've already done the 'export', which is the (misleading imho!) term used by Tascam. The export process creates wave files in the AudioDepot folder; it doesn't copy them to your computer so you have to do this yourself.
You can either physically move the sd-card or use the USB link so the computer can 'see' the AudioDepot folder. You use the computer to copy the wave files from the card to the computer's disc, then you can disconnect/disable the link (note you must do a 'safe remove' or 'unmount' at the computer end before removing the card or disabling the link).
Beware of 'official' Tascam videos ;)

Thanks David and Phil for your explanations , it makes sense now, it seems to be something I need to sort on the pc, as you have said I have exported the songs correctly, but I can only play them back on the pc when the USB connection is enabled. I have copied the master and mixdown tracks and pasted the copies onto where songs are listed but still no joy. When I click start on the pc then documents, I can see in the list of documents a file headed DP24 SD (E) Audio Depot/Music/
Utility. I can only see this when the USB cable is connected and enabled. Don't know if that helps
I will persevere, thanks so much for your help

Sounds like a 'how to drive Windows' issue :)
You need to be comfortable with how to navigate between drives and folders, and how to copy files from one place to another. These are general computing operations but the exact process depends on your computer system and version. There are usually several ways of doing it, e.g. via the menus, via right-clicking, or dragging/dropping with the mouse.

As an example, navigate to the sd-card drive and then to the AudioDepot folder within it so you can 'see' your files. Just try copying one as a test... right-click it then select Copy. This saves the name of the file ready for pasting later.

Then navigate to the folder where you want to store the file, presumably on your computer disc (although it could be another device such as a memory stick). You could for example create a folder under your Documents folder called DP24Stuff. If you then right-click on a blank space in that folder and select Paste, the computer will perform the copy & paste operation on the previously selected file(s).
The file will then physically exist on your computer's disc, so you no longer need access to the sd-card.
Good luck... and keep us posted. You'll get it sorted :)

Hi Phil
Sorted
Did exactly as you explained and can now play back the song. As you can tell I am more of a musician than computer expert.I am slowly finding my way through the recording process on my DP24 and I am very impressed with the quality. Your on line video tutorials
Are very informative and are a great help
Thanks again! I will keep up with the forums also
