DP-008ex and DP-03sd Discontinued?

Yikes!
I guess that's how the MTR ball bounces...the last 20+ years is strewn with the corpses of literally dozens of excellent units (and a few not-so-excellent...) - always with something newer/different/"better" filling the market void.
Some were easily replaced and far surpassed by their successors.
Some were so excellent that they remain in use, serving well, and in very high demand to this day.

And of course, many of these - certainly the more popular ones - were produced in the millions...so even with a certain measure of them abused/neglected, broken/damaged, etc...they're gonna be around for a looong time. I myself recently parted w a 20-year-old ZOOM MRS-1608 that was, frankly, an amazing unit. A little wieldy to learn/master, but a fine unit throughout, and matched in its' capabilities by few of its' "peers". AND got a bundle for it, at a point (nearly 20 yrs old) when the 'laws' of depreciation/diminishing returns should have dictated that it was worth less than a politician's word.
I think there's enough DP's, BOSS & Roland units of various sizes, etc etc to go around for manymany moons.

Speaking for myself: I just LOVE my '008. It's arguable that it lacks important features/capabilities of other units - surely that's true - but it ticks all the boxes and fills its' intended role beautifully (for me). So mine ain't goin' nowheres!

I didn't know Tascam discontinued the DP-03SD. I got mine new in 2016 to record 2 CDs worth of my original material (acoustic guitar and vocal) to be submitted for Copyrights. I've barely touched it since, it's in excellent condition. Been in it's original box in my closet since 2016. The box is a little frayed at the edges but the DP is in perfect working condition. After doing the Copyrighting, I switched to my Windows PC and Reaper DAW. . . I've barely touched the DP since. I pull it out to check stuff when helping others online with their difficulties on the unit.

I just flipped over to Reverb and they only show 2 for sale - there used to be dozens. Then I checked eBay and they still have tons showing for sale, most at incredibly high prices ($500-600 for new AND used).

Dang. Guess I better think about listing my mint-condition '008ex. Then I wouldn't have to go through with selling a kidney to pay my electric bill.

EDIT:
Holy CRIKEY. Just bumped by ebay and searched "DP-03"...people asking up to nearly EIGHT HUNDRED BUX for a new-in-box '03.
Guess I'll wait a coupla years more, then sell my mint-condition o/g (w/MIDI & CD) DP-32 so I can make a down payment on a house.
