Tascam DP-24 w/CD burner
Hello Everybody,

I am new to the forum, and new to the world of Tascam.
I very recently purchased a Tascam DP-24 that has the cd-burner and midi. I've been on a learning curve, but, noticed that the firmware was at 1.05, but, the 'newest' firmware' update is '1.21'. So, I connected the DP-24 to the computer, noticed the 'Utility' pop-up, and then downloaded the newest firmware update.
Here's the question: How do I transfer that download, after unzipping it, to the DP-24?

I apologize if this seem elementary, but, I gotta start somewhere.
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum. The update procedure is described in a PDF file which should be in the zipped package you downloaded. If not, it may be a separate file on the Tascam website. Look for something like E_DP-24_32_FW-Update_vA.pdf.
In summary, you copy the unzipped firmware file into the UTILITY folder on the sd-card. You can do this by either plugging the card directly into your computer or by using the USB link.
You then need to press & hold some buttons on your machine while it is powering up. This displays an update menu, and you just follow the instructions on the screen.
Btw, it's recommended you do a full reformat of your sd-cards after upgrading. We only have anecdotal evidence for this, but best to be sure. EDIT: a format will erase everything on the card so make sure you have a backup before doing it.

Thank you, Mr Tipping 😁

I'm an analog guy from the mid-80's, and even though my kids would tell you that they have spent countless hours teaching me the "internet", I'm still a bit 'computer-illiterate'.

Thank you again, Phil. Much appreciated 😁😁

Just a quick question, doesn't reformatting wipe out all the songs stored on the SD Card.

Yes it will delete everything on the card, so make sure your backup is always kept up to date. Good practice is to make backups regularly so you should always be able to restore a card if it goes faulty, or in case of accident. EDIT: Have updated the post you quoted to clarify this so thank you for the reminder.
