Dp24 Monitoring

Hello, potentially embarrassing newb question: can you control the volume to your monitors (i.e., silence them), while still listening through cans?

Unfortunately, no. You will need to switch off or turn down the volume on your monitors to silence them.

I use a headphone amp on mine to control my monitoring levels. It's plugged in to the monitor jacks and I run two different sets of headphones and my monitors with it. It has a volume knob for each line out.

the 2488 has a mute button to achieve what you're looking for. I'm surprised the dp-24 doesn't?
