DR-40 enter/mark button

Hello all. I have a problem with my DR-40 and am wondering which spot is best to ask for help. My problem is this: I had recorded about 25 minutes of orig stuff and while replaying it I accidentally hit the. ENTER/MARK button, which immediately shrunk the recording to 4 seconds. Not knowing how to undo it I tried pushing the same button again to no avail. finally got a manual printed and it says to hold the button to clear the mark. This doesn't work. I'm desperate to restore my recording! I'm hoping it's still in the machine but I don't know how to retrieve it.

Can anyone help?

Did you connect it to a computer to see if the original track is still there ? It suppose to be intact, as I remember.

Thanks for the tip. I have not tried that yet, but I will soon! Fingers crossed.
