Empty tracks on SD card

Hi all.

What is the best and most simple approach to recording different 'takes' with the Model 12. Currently I've been instructing students, who use it to record voiceovers, to create a new song each time. This is quite a long way round and it gets confusing when they open up the MTR folder and there's loads of folders with loads of empty unused WAV files that are 6kb.

The only other way I can think is for them to just move the mic input along to Channel 2 to record a new take and mute the rest. Any smart approaches welcomed!

No need to move the mic.
Just move the first recording to an empty track, mute that, and then start a new recording on track one again.
Repeat.
