Is there anyone using a MkI FireWire card ? Does it work as well as the Mkii. It has 2 FireWire slots, midi in and out

The MkI card was used on the DM-24, I'm not even sure if it is compatible with the DM3200/4800. I think it was limited in any case to 24 channels against 32 on the MkII.

Looking in the Tascam manual, there are jumpers you have to set for either the 24 or 3200. In terms of DAW, you can still mix more than 24 by way of “Remote “ on the 3200, correct? I found a card in Germany. I believe it’s just compatible with the 3200 only but the store that’s selling it says 4800 also

I actually used an MK1 in my previous dm3200 mixer. As the manual says, you will have to use the dip switches to make it work, and you will have only 24 channels as i remember. If you can make it work with a dm3200, my bet is that it will work on the dm4800 too. The Motherboard on the dm3200 and the dm4800 are the same, but they are programmed differently, so ?

@Olietyven Wasn't the MkI also limited to 48kHz? I seem to recall..

Good question, i simply don't remember.
Did i ever record above 48kHz ??????

As you can properly tell from my questions, I’m not very experienced in this. 1.. Since there’s 2 FireWire inputs on the card, can it be used like other units as one in/ one out 2... what’s the difference in recording 48kHz or 96kHz. @Olietyven what driver version is required for this particular card.

You can hookup an external harddrive on the second firewire. About the driver, i am nut sure. Sold the Card and Mixer longtime ago, but think you should go for the latest driver for mk1, don't believe the mk2 drivers will work. About the difference in recording 48kHz or 96kHz, i can't tell you, my Ears don't recognise the difference, but my disk do ;-)

Looking at the manual, it says it doesn't require a special driver for Mac....interesting:?:
