I bought a Teac 144 portastudio a couple of months ago but didn't really mess around with it until this week. Everything works fine with DI bass/guitar/synth but with my SM58, I hear some radio stations playing with the mic signal. I tried with a XLR to 1/4 cable and with a XLR to XLR cable with an XLR to 1/4 adapter but the radio noise is still present.
Could this be a grounding problem? I read somewhere that XLR to 1/4 is not grounding the signal or something like that. Mayve an old Hi-Z mic with a direct 1/4 jack connection could work but I don't want to buy one if I don't if it works...
What kind of mic do you guys use with these old portastudios without XLR inputs (only 1/4 unbalanced)?
Thanks in advance.
