I am a drummer trying to learn how to record myself and bought the tascam 1800 and I'm getting a delay and do not hear what I am playing in real time. I checked the computer thinking it was not powerful enough, not the case. I have looked through the help function and cant figure this out. Please help me I am not very computer savvy I really appreciate it.

No matter how powerful your computer is, you'll experience this "delay" (actually called "latency"), because general purpose computer operating systems (Windows, MacOS, Unix, Linux, etc) are not designed for real-time audio processing.
That was the bad news. Now the good news: Your US-1800 the MIX knob with which you can monitor the sound coming into your US-1800 without any latency. Just turn off input monitoring on your DAW software and turn the MIX knob until you are satisfied with the result.
