I have 2 Tascam Mx2424’s and I’m trying understand the best way to hook them up.
First, I’m using a Tascam DM4800 console.
I have a TL bus cable and my master to chain both devices.
Note........
My master Tascam MX2424 has the IF-AN24 channel AD/DA MODULE, along with the IF-TDIF Digital I/O Expansion card.
My slave Tascam Mx2424 only has the Tascam IF-AE/DM AES/EBU Digital I/O Expansion card.
How do I get playback output from my slave?
If the master Tascam Mx2424 is hooked up to the TDIF of the Tascam Dm4800.
How should the slave Tascam Mx2424’s output be configured?
I’m totally lost!!!!!!!!!!!

Just to be clear, when mx’s are slaved the output still comes from each of the mx’s separately. The analog mx can output analog the IF mx can only output from that card.

It is easy to sync 2 mx’s via the TL bus connections, they become sample locked together.

If I understood correctly, the slave MX2424 only has the AES-EBU i/o card (IF-AE24). Therefore, my only guess to connect this to the DM4800 is by using (3x) IF-AE/DM cards in the expansion slots of the DM4800... or by using any type of bridge to convert AES/EBU from the MX2424 to whatever expansion card is present in the DM4800.

However, I do not have a DM4800 myself, so take the above with a grain of salt .
