I need DR-40 help please

Hi guys, I purchased a DR-40 to record live DJ sets. At the moment I seem to have 2 issues - when I play back my recordings on i-tunes the volume is really low. So low that I have to have my i-tunes and macbook volume up almost full to hear it properly. The other issue I have is when I listen to my recordings through my headphones via the recorder itself the volume is fine, in fact it's loud, but the recordings play back really slowly and sounds weird. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
