Meter levels when bouncing tracks

When bouncing tracks on a DP-01. should the level meters of the armed, receiving tracks function when in "play" mode. In other words, if I am bouncing tracks 1,2,3,4 to tracks 7 and 8, should the level meters on tracks 7 and 8 register levels when in "play" mode. I know they work in "record" mode, but shouldn't they work in "play" mode in order to set levels before recording.

No, because no signal is going there. To set, just record and then hit the undo button when you have it.
