Model 16 mon 1 & 2 are not stereo with TRS cable?

I have a model 16, im trying to send a TRS cable from Aux Mon 1 to a stereo rack effects (left and right ins) but with a TRS cable i only get sound out of the TIP from a 1/4 inch TRS to Dual 1/4 inch TS Insert Cable.

So would i need to send both mon1 and mon2 aux sends to the my external rack effects stereo left and right inputs with 2 standard mono jacks?

The console is mono. Everything stereo takes 2 channels, whether it's going in or out.
