Monitoring Audio while Recording?

Hello,
I have a DR-40 audio recorder, I know you can monitor though headphones the audio input while stopped but how do you listen when you are recording?

Connect headphones to the line out jack. Use the + or - button in the home screen to adjust volume. Recording is not affected. ( From the manual )
