New macs and usb c with firewire

Hi all

am about to purchase new Mac mini i7 and am suddenly worrying that FireWire may be a problem - as far as I can tell I will need 3 adapters, usb c to thunderbolt, thunderbolt to firewire 800 and FireWire 800 to 400.

I was using two on a 2013 iMac with no issue other than occasional dropouts on startup but is anyone successfully doing this with the new Mac ports and with Catalina?

Wondering now if I’d be better with a reconditioned Mac Pro 5.1

In case anyone runs into this thread, I can confirm the mkII card and driver, at least, work on Catalina and new Macs.
