New SATA HDD drive, Reinstall OS

Hi! I have questions to all who have an experience of upgrading their Tascam SX-1

1) Do you use SATA - IDE controllers (which manufacturer, model)
2) Is there a maximum storage space limit for IDE drives in Tascam SX-1


And may be somebody knows:
Is it possible to remove native RAM and mount my own RAM, for ex. 1GB?
