New to Portacapture X8 - No Playback Sound

Hello all

This is my first post, so I don't know for sure I'm even in the right place, but I'll try.
Just got the X8.
Right now my goal is to make a simple voice recording, then play it back through the built in speaker.
I got through the recording part of it, I can see the file being played back, the speaker is selected in Settings,
there's nothing in the Line Out port but I for the life of me can't get sound out of the speaker, or headphones.

It has to be something simple, but I can't figure it out.

Update
I tried playing the wav files on the sd card through a computer, and they
have no sound.
I guess I've done something wrong in the recording.

Update#2
The recorded wav files Do have sound when copied to the the computer as long as the X8 is not plugged in to the computer.
Still no sound out of the X8 though.
