No recording Model 12..?

Hi,
I have recorded a song and seen on the Meter that sound is getting into Model 12
When I then try to play back after I have set all Mode-switches to MTR there is nothing recorded.
I can see that because there's nothing on the meter and no sound.
Why is that?

I would think you set it to MTR to record, then there should be a playback option/button?

no, that's not right. Live for recording, MTR for playback

Did you record-enable the individual track(s), as well as hitting REC on the transport? Once or twice I've made that dumb mistake and wondered why my recording pass was silent...
