Original 414 and 414 mkii compatibility

Hi all -

I record with a buddy and up until now we’ve each been using our own Tascam mkii units to record. Mine recently died and I accidentally bought an original 414 to replace. It seems to be in great shape and I’m inclined to keep it. My only question is - will these machines be compatible? As in, if we record something on his mkii and then work on it in the 414 original, will there be any issues?

Well I think the heads are the same- both 4 tracks. The things you need to be careful about is Noise reduction. If you use dBx before you will need a unit to decode it also. If they both have dBx or that you turn it off then there should be no problem at all.
