Hi there!

I'm a wedding filmmaker, and had my x8 plugged into a speaker via XLR. I've noticed during two of my recent weddings the sound would cut out for a split second intermittently. Does anyone know what would cause this? Could it be the cables, or the recorder??

I've attached a sample below via youtube.

Thanks!

Did you experience this problem only at this wedding, or on every occasion?

Only in the last two weddings. I noticed when they were playing music through the speakers there was no cut outs, it was only when they were using the wireless mic that sometimes it would have this issue.

To clarify, my x8 is plugged into the speaker to capture the sound via the XLR output.

My guess is that the wireless mics are cutting out and you are faithfully recording them doing so. Did you yourself notice the sound from the speakers cutting out too? Have you checked with any audience members to see if they heard the sound from the speakers cutting out?

I'm a wedding filmmaker running into the same issue - the wireless microphones at the venue are fine (verified by my own observations live, and by the shotgun microphone plugged directly into my camera). There are gaps that aren't silences, but the audio is just spliced out and the clip is shortened compared to what it should be. I'm going to have to RMA this thing.
