- Portastudio 464
I have a PortaStudio 464 purchased new, still works except for several input trim pots are noisy or have failed entirely. It has been stored for about 15 years and I am using it again. From the sound it appears to be dirt and/or corrosion in the trim pots. Are these sealed or open frame pots, and can they be cleaned by taking the chassis apart without too much trouble?
I used this unit extensively in the 1990s and early 2000s for a home studio, recording several bands. The cassette still works fine, and most of the other controls I have tried now work. Amazing after about 30 years! I want to keep it out and useable in my home studio for both nostalgia and for utility as a mixer and occasional fun 4TR recorder.
