Recording keyboard on model 12

I need some help iam trying to record my nord piano straight into the model 12 and on to the sd card but the signal is really low do I need to go into a di box first?

No DI-box should be necessary. Any keyboard should have plenty signal going into the mixer.
Sounds really strange.
Do you have the same problem with other keyboards?

I haven't been able to try any other keyboard yet. But the moog eurorack units I have all come through fine just the keyboard is about half as loud.

Where's your gain set (at the top of the channel)?

I try and keep the gain low normaly under the 9 0 clock position as soon as I push the gain up to around 12 to get the volume signal up i start hearing distortion and the piano sounds terrible.

There's your problem - you'll have to play around with the gain on the board and the Nord to get the balance right. Some of my gear needs to be set at 0 and others need to be higher. Play around and see what happens.
