Series 102i optical input problem

Just bought a Series 102i to replace my US-366. It appears to have a problem with the optical signal input. I just wanted to verify there isnt some magic fix unknown to me before i send it back for a replacement. My US-366 is nearly identical except its bus powered and I can clearly see and monitor the optical input.

Updated firmware, and monitoring the computer or analogue inputs works still. any ideas, or send it back?

Maybe someone who has knowledge (or a working 102i/208i) can confirm that can process standard s/pdif signals or if its limited to ADAT lightpipe
