Tascam 234

Hope someone can help me with the issue I’m having. My 234 has been sitting for a few years so I just replaced both belts and it won’t play a tape. The heads move up and and tape moves just a little and than it stops it self. Fast forward and rewind work perfectly. So I’m not sure what to do next.

Okay looks like the capstan motor doesn’t power up. Or well doesn’t move when I push play.

If the motor is getting voltage then try turning it a little bit to move the commutator. If it still doe snot work then the drive transistors may be open. It might need a new motor. I could not really say for sure until I looked at it. I am not looking for more work as I have 200 already. Just some ideas- sometimes there is a switch that tells the motor a tape is in the compartment and that may be open- I have not dealt with this model for a while but the one I have here works.
