I have got to grips with most of the basics of using my new Tascam 2400, however I have a couple of issues as I try to work things out. For reference, I am using Reaper DAW.
Firstly, nothing I have done so far has made the gain sig light react. The meter levels being received, and checked on the device screen and the software meter, are above -18db (I have tried with signals approaching 0db), and also turning the gain knob when playing back either computer audio (such as YT, TV) or linked DAW tracks, does not affect the level of sound. Nor does playing back MTR from the sd card. Am I missing something or would the gain appear not to be working? This is the same for all channels. I have not as yet tried this with an line/instrument recording.
Secondly, if I want to record some tracks from a DAW, effectively to create a buss, and then import it as a stereo mix to a new song alongside further or the remaining tracks of the project, how do I align these? I had thought that pressing record would start the DAW and the recording at the same time, but does not appear the case. I had been trying to mimic this YT video:
- he explains his setup from 5:24 but not how he is coordinating timing between his separate recording 'sessions'. It seems when he press record (at 23:30 and 45:40), everything seems to works in tandem.
