Tascam 424 MKIII
Hi so I just bought a 424 MKIII and i'm having an issue with RF interference on the mic and line inputs and was wondering if anyone has had a similar issue and could suggest something i could do to help get rid of/or alleviate the issue?

My setup is I run everything through my Scarlett 18i8 interface/daw and send a stereo out to the inputs on the 424 with balanced 1/4" trs to xlr cables but the same issue happens if i plug straight in as well.

Please help if you can !! This issue makes it almost impossible to record with it.

thanks,
Josh

If indeed an RF problem, would bet a bag of pucks it has nothing to do with your 424. More likely inadequate cables; you might also wanna look into grounding issues. And perhaps even identify the source of the RF (and eliminate if possible)...

I agree with shredd.

How does the RFI present? Low hum, buzz, hiss? That will help identify the source, and possible solutions.

Yuh-huh - that's whut I meant: RF interference tends to be quite distinct, whereas the many varied signal-degradation causes can have their own distinct sound.
If you don't want to locate/identify/resolve it yourself, you could post a recording of it here, and maybe someone will do it for you.

I'm still betting a bag of pucks on grounding issues and/or cable/connector integrity...unless you forgot to tell us about the gigantic K-Mart multi-tube fluorescent desk light right above your studio desk...
But it's your gear, and you'll have to find/resolve the source. I've been trying to get Alan Parsons over to my house to resolve my routing problems for years...yet the crotchety ol' codger is always begging off, too busy/disinterested to take me up on a raucous afternoon of chili nachos and patch-bay design...imagine that...
