Hi,
I need a bit of guidance and anyone who has experienced this particular issue on the 688 and maybe other models.
The issue - Whenever I go to arm a track, via the REC switches on the front control panel, I get a "splat" of noise, very briefly, that drives the meters into red and comes back down. This is on channels 1, 4 & 6 and is also audible via the CUE MONITOR section.
I've completed the majority of servicing for this machine, I wouldn't consider myself a novice but I'm somewhat new to the 688 (I've worked on the 238 a few times but not experienced this issue). Work I've done is replacing most of the L4066 components in this machine, as when it was bought to me, one on the R/P PCB was blown to bits. I've read that these are quite unreliable so I've replaced them. The issue still stands and I'm stilling getting "splats". I also seem to be getting it whenever I press in the switch for "Group 1-2" on the Monitor section of the mixer. I may use this to try and help narrow down the issue on individual tracks.
I may write up more here as I work on it but if anyone has any ideas or things to check for, I'm all ears. I'm thinking of checking the "Muting" components located on the Power Supply next.
Thanks,
