Tascam AQ-65C Auto Locator

Hi everyone,

I am looking for an AQ-65 to use with my Tascam 388.

Now I found a AQ-65C. Unfortunately I am not able to find any useful information on the internet about that specific 'C' model. Can anyone confirm the AQ-65C is working with the 388?
Not sure what the difference between the AQ-65 and the AQ-65C is but I assume it is the connector?

In the 388 manual only the AQ-65 model is mentioned.
In the AQ-65 manual the 388 is listed as compatible device.
I was not able to find the AQ-65C manual.

Thank you, I sent them a mail. But from experience they do not have a lot of information concerning 40 year old gear.

Unfortunately they were not able to help.

No one else here who knows the difference between the AQ-65 and the AQ-65C ?

The only difference is the connectors. the AQ65 was used with the MS-16,and the C was used with the ATR/60-16.

Thank you! The 388 has the Marco 354 38 pin plug.

According to the respective user manuals the 3 machines seem to share the same connector (in shape as in wiring).

So I assume the AQ-65C was just a later (but identical) model than the AQ-65.

388 and MS-16 have the same connector. ATR uses a D-sub connector- don't remember the pin count.

The 2 D-SUB connectors on the ATR 60-16 are only needed to connect the RC-65C Control Unit and the Record Function Control Panel (see last screenshot). The 3 machines share the Malco 354-38 pin plug for the AQ-65/AQ-65C .

So theoretically both units (AQ-65 and AQ-65C) should work on the 388.
Or am I missing something?

I finally received the unit and I can confirm that the C-Version works flawlessly with the 388.
