Bought this broken CD writer and disassembled it to repair dislodged disc tray.

'SERVICE" is flashing. Is there a way to reset it?

Service is flashing because something is not meeting all conditions as far as the mechanism is concerned. Maybe a TOC location switch is bad or not set right. That would be that the reader head is positioned to the center of the disc where the TOC is read before anything else can go on. Most units when you turn them on and the sled is center or at end will automatically drive the sled to the center to start. wkrbee would know more perhaps.

The CDRW 5000 will only work with 4X media.
