Tascam DR-40x
Hi, I'm new here so apologies if my etiquette isn't up to scratch. I've been using my DR40x to record DJ sets and occasionally it stops recording mid set, after approx 3.5 hours. I've updated the firmware this evening hoping this solves things but if anyone can shed some light if this is a known or common issue i'd be most grateful. My SD card says it can get 50 hours worth on so its not a size issue. Is it some kind of battery or power issue perhaps? I run it from mains power not just batteries...

I don't have one of these...nor am I going to read the OM for you...but: ALL OVER this site are countless posts about file-size limitations of various Tascam machines...referencing that no matter WHAT the capacity of the storage is, a SINGLE recording (file) can only be so big, and when that limit is reached, the unit in question usually just stops recording.
Sounds like you have homework to do!
Good luck -

Appreciate the response. Yes that makes sense but it’s an intermittent issue as usually after the file size hits its maximum size, It stops but then automatically starts recording again which isn’t a problem for me. However on the last few occasions it’s not automatically started to record again.

Now THAT's interesting - that it 'resumes' recording (on a new file, right?)...I hadn't read that one before.
The good news is that your full-length recording can be assembled into a single recording (if your equipment will do it)from the multiple segments...maybe in a DAW or whut-eva??? 🤷‍♀️

Yeah that’s right, and that works fine for me. Sadly though, it sometimes doesn’t restart the recording and I’m desperate to find out why and what’s the cause? It’s not restarted the last 3 or 4 times and I can only assume it’s something to do with the internal batteries being weak even though it’s mains powered which I know doesn’t make sense?! 🤷🏻‍♂️😵‍💫
