Tascam MidiStudio 644

I was recently given a Tascam MidiStudio 644 by a friend who never used it. Not once. It functions perfectly since its a brand new machine. My question is how functional is it with modern recording systems? I was wondering if either by the serial port or the midi port it could be used as a digital multitrack recorder VIA a computer and a recording software (Logic, ProTools etc.). I highly doubt this is possible but I thought id ask before I found a different piece of equipment.
