Hi there,
New to the forums here but a long-time owner of a Tascam TSR-8.
Despite new capstan belts being installed at regular 6 month/1 year intervals previously, my TSR-8 continues to throw the capstan belt off (belt 'slipping' in other words) perhaps 1 out of 2 times I lift the tension arm or mount a tape for playback which is rather disconcerting and has literally ground my recording process to a halt.
Just to clarify, the belts I have purchased new as close as possible to the OEM specs (a PRB - FRY13.2) so I am wondering if anything else could be the underlying cause here?
Admittedly I haven't lubricated the capstan motor shaft (if this is its name) since I bought the TSR-8... is this something that might throw a belt off through old grease etc. presenting more initial force to overcome inertia?
