- Tascam DP-32SD 32-Track
Hi all. I just joined yesterday, after my Tascam DP-32SD 32-Track Digital Portastudio was delivered.
This may sound like an odd question (or set of questions), but the query is sincere.
After becoming unhappy with the track limitations of my Zoom L-12, I started poking around to see what other options were available. When I came across a 20-track multitrack recorder (or 32-tracks, if you consider that 12 of those tracks can be stereo) for $425.00 new, I jumped on it. But ever since I ordered it and then later received it, I've been wondering if the deal was too good to be true. I tested the unit yesterday only by recording 5 test tracks, and it works great (other than the headphone amp hiss that is apparently normal).
It looks like the Tascam DP-32SD goes for anywhere from the mid five hundreds to seven hundred dollars new. Realizing of course that different retailers have different pricing and also that things go on sale from time to time, I'm just wondering if I bought the right Tascam DP-32SD because the price was so good.
Do they make a cheap Tascam DP-32SD and a more expensive Tascam DP-32SD with more features? I know they once made a model with a CD drive, and mine doesn't have one. Did they make any other models? Was there ever a recall? Is there anywhere I can look in the machine to make sure it's legit?
I just want to make sure I got the real deal, and that mine isn't refurnished or neutered.
Thanks.
