Whats a PS2 To You?

I've just discovered a little curiosity and would like to share to:- 1) Ensure the maxim "buyer beware" prevails and 2) to see if someone with more techno up top can shed some light.

I'm using both Tascam MD-301MkII and MD-350 mini disc units in a home studio Hi/Fi setting and thought I'd invest in a couple of natty looking mini PS2 keyboards to help the world work better. Got hold of x2 Perixx mini keyboards . . . but just found out . . neither work with either Tascam mini disk units?

I thought I just jot "duff 'ens" so plugged 'em into PS2 on back of my P.C's and they both working fine!!

Grabbed a couple of older full size PS2 keyboards . . and they work fine with the mini disk units!!

Anyone know why?

I don't have an concrete answers other than maybe there are plug connection differences where the pins are not all making contact. Just an idea. I have only plugged in full size keyboard in my experience so that is about it.
