With so much now 1/8", how do you adapt these models?

Gear owned
DR-40
That could appear to be a contentious bait question but I'm sincere because I have owned a DR-40 since 2015/2016 and a DR-70D since 2019. Back then I was more active in recording small live bands and I was using a mix of my own microphones with balanced XLR signals and also XLR or 1/4" feeds from any of a number of sources from the band's gear. Now I'm far more into low/medium budget video where the affordable offerings are 1/8" TRS. Buying a Rode VXLR Pro with balanced and plug in power circuitry for each channel of a DR looks like a bulky and expensive route to take.
I'm able to wire up something myself but I haven't found a definitive schematic or kit to that with certainty.
