Below, my 1988 "tape based" home studio:
(before digital, although I did own both a DAT, and a 2 track for mastering)

For reference kids, that's an Atari 2600 Computer (before IBM PC's, Bill Gates & Windows)
and those are original Yamaha NS10's and Tannoys. (I miss my hand-wired Marshall Studio 15)

At that time I switched from Atari ST-1040 to Commodore Amiga 500, then to A4000 until Windows PC became more powerful and efficient. Ages ago

That's funny! My ex-father in law was a BIG Commodore and Tandy fan... loll
(may he "affectionately" rot in he__). I could not afford to buy Apple back then.
Seriously, I actually owned 2 of those Atari 2600's, which served my purposes.

The sequencing software for the Atari 2600 was dirt cheap, and synced well
with my Alesis sequencer and drum machines through MIDI & SMPTE. I
was using a guitar synth midi controller to record sound modules and sync
them to my multitrack, along with bass, electric, and acoustic guitars. We
even built a nice sound booth to the left of that 2nd picture (with the 2 track)
mainly for radio commercial voice-overs, and song demos.

I dismantled my studio in 1993 after a ruthless divorce. Actually, that was good timing,
because Pro-Tools virtually killed-off tape studios very shortly thereafter.

Here's a few low-res pics around the time I was at G&L in 1981.
(Wow, that guy looks a lot like Leo Fender!)

In the final picture, Leo gifted me that Ash G&L F-100 for my 25th birthday.
That very same afternoon Forrest White gifted me that MMan RP65 Combo!
I'm now the same age Leo was, back in 1981... loll...


My custom Pedalboard was built by studio pal Jay Sessum. Tommy Tedesco
ordered/used that same model pedalboard. I know, because Jay & I actually
hand-delivered Tommy's pedalboard to him, at GIT! (He was a very funny guy!
