Just looking for a bit if advice about connecting an analogue synthesiser to my DP32sd. I'm going to have a play with an Arturia Microbrute in the coming weeks to make some nice bass sounds. It has a 1/4" audio output to go to a mixer. I just want to be sure I don't do any damage to either so I'm assuming I just go into any channel on the Tascam using a guitar lead. Is it just like recording from a drum machine or is there anything else I should know or be wary of?
I've only used standard instruments up to now so any advice or settings or links would be much appreciated.

I'm guessing that the output from the synth is a stereo 1/4" TRS socket so a guitar cable will only be mono. You would need a cable with one TRS to two mono jacks so you go into two input sockets on your recorder.
Hosa is one company that makes these cables, any good music shop should have these in stock.

PS,I've never used a synth but keyboards usually have stereo output.

The microbrute manual shows it has a 1/4" mono output so a simple TS cable will do. Connect it to any of the DP inputs. If you use input H, make sure the guitar/line switch is set to line.
Set the trim to about 1 o'clock and adjust the output level on the microbrute so you get a good level on the meters; only adjust the trim from this position as a last resort.
Update: you can download the manual yourself so you can get a good idea of how to use it before it arrives :) (there's a picture of a TS connection to a mixer on page 12).

Thanks so much, Phil as I wasn't sure about the mono / stereo output. That all sounds simple enough. I can't wait to try it and good idea about running through the manual in advance, it's just downloading as I type.

No worries Kit. I do a lot of 'window shopping' that way; you can usually find a manual for most things online - saves a lot of disappointment :) Have fun with the microbrute.
