DP-008Ex. On an analog. I would just hit zero for each new track so I could find the start. I'm not sure now how to do this. I find the manual opaque at best. I hit In/Out, record, hit In/Out again. But dont know how to rewind to my start point.....do I need to create a song first via Menu>Song>Create? I'm probably overthinking this. Any clarification is appreciated.

Dunno about a DP008 but on my DP-03 you just hold the stop button down and hit left cursor key, and you go to the beginning. You can also set in point by holding down "in" until it shows that your current cursor position has been saved. From then on you just hit "in" and it will take you to that place. Hope its similar on your 008 and that this helps. Otherwise just pull out your manual.

Here's the best YouTube video (to date) to learn how to use your DP-008EX: He goes into setting start and stop points, punching in and out, in the section on mixdown in the second half of the video.
