DP-24
Hi,
I hope someone can help me.
I have had a Dp-24 for sometime and a technical friend made a template for me so that i could make songs using my analogue, midi studio with a cubase 10.5 elements DAW.

I use the DP-24 for only the vocals, guitar and bass guitar.
All other instruments, effects etc. go through the desk and midi box to the DAW

Everything has been working fine however now I find that the playback recording from the DP-24 is different then the recording that I make on my USB recorder to master when i would have thought that this would be the same sound.

The USB recorder is connected to the desk using RCA's however the recording has a lot less base and sounds less dynamic than when playing back soley from the Tascam recorder.

I do know that the settings from my template had changed however I don't know why these were unknowingly changed and I managed to find out what these differences were by looking at the settings of a previously recorded track which did sound dynamic on the playback Tascam and the USB master.
I had changed all of these settings back to match the original however the difference with playback/output seems not to have been corrected.

In addition I have also tried to re-record the previous track, just to see what the re-recording would sound like and this new re-recording also does not sound dynamic. The bass sounds like a transistor radio bass and doesn't have a kick on the recording. But on playback is sounds good.

i think that there are output settings to the recorder have changed but don't know where to find them or how I can change these.

Any idea's as to how I can correct this would be great.
Thanks ever so much

Don't use your usb recorder.
Make a mixdown, then via the card or the usb, put the final mixdown directly into your daw.
It's the best way to get in your daw, exactly what you've recorded.

Thanks for your reply and your help.

The USB recorder records a combination from the midi, the mixing desk and the Tascam. I know its a strange setup but it works (most of the time) The DAW is only there to synch all the sounds together and not to record.

Luckily, however, a friend managed to find the issue. The channel on the mixing desk had direct source and not the actual source and therefore the USB was not recording the Tascam sound with effects but only the prerecorded bass without the dynamic effects. So the problem is solved :)
