DP008 question or questions

Hi, sorry but I'm new to this recording malarkey. I've just bought a DP008ex and am I right in thinking I can only read songs or files off the tascam after I have mastered them?

once you've made your master go back to multi-track mode. Menu to import/export, then export master. The machine then exports your master to a different part of the card as a stereo file. You can then hook up usb or insert the card into a computer and get your wav file. I use audacity to trim the ends, normalize and then convert to MP3 to post. Good luck.
