DR-40 shuts off after hiting up volume

Hi guys

I have a DR-40 with the latest firmware. Everytime i try to change the record mode (and only there) hitting up volume, the recorder just shuts off. This glitch happens only here in this section and nowhere else

What could this be and What could I do?

Try powering the recorder through the USB port. Do you still see the problem? If no, pull the USB cable and try new batteries. What then?
