DR-40 Sudden failure?

My DR 40 is a couple of years old, with mostly light field use during that time. No problems until today, when I can't get it to start up. Three different sets of batteries (all test good.)
Has this been a thing for anyone? I'm guessing I'll just contact repair, and see if it's worth my $ to do so. Might be time to upgrade to better preamps anyway, but this was such a convenient recorder.

I know it might seem silly, but check that you haven't inadvertently switched the "HOLD" switch. If the switch is in the on position the power button will not turn the unit on.

Can't say I've ever used the hold switch. Intentionally, anyway.
