Yeah, slow days for me here. It's over 30°C and raining all the time. The only thing getting me out of my loft is a funeral on the 30th (no joke). So I was tinkering with my AV gear mounting arrangements.
On my DR-70D there is that screwed down sheet metal bracket that I discounted as a cold shoe that I don't need, like the bolt on DSLR bracket that I removed to reveal it. Now I could put the "cold shoe" to use but it's too narrow and too thin in the vertical. I've calipered it and tried 3 fittings so it's definitely too small to receive standard shoes.
Then what was Tascam thinking? It's existence or purpose are not singled out for attention in the manual's illustrations.
Since it's held down with a screw, are there accessory cold shoe bits available to replace it with something functional?
