GT R1 Overdub pop up

Hi,
I just bought a second Hand GT-R1:
I wanted to record my guitar over an existing File (Wav) using the Overdub function.
According to the Manual a pop up should then appear,but nothing happens.
I would be grateful for any Tips or suggestions
