Hi everyone,

I’m looking to buy a Tascam Model 12. I’ve read and watched a lot about its features, but there’s one thing I still can’t figure out. I’ve searched this forum but maybe I’m not using the correct keywords?

Question 1 : Is it possible to:
- send an audio signal from my MacBook (a track in Ableton Live)
- to the Tascam Model 12
- do some hardware pedal processing
- send the processed signal back into the Tascam Model 12
- then back to the computer (into a different track in Ableton Live)

The idea is to combine virtual instruments in Ableton with hardware pedals outside the computer and record the result back in Ableton.

Question 2 : Will this be done using the USB connection or the audio jack (or both)?

While I could simply route the MacBook output to my pedals and then back in the computer, I don't want to re-wire the thing manually every time. Using the Model 12 as a central hub would be perfect.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Welcome @AnotherUser,
short answer is "yes". Connect the Model 12 to the computer using the USB port, send the audio signal to be processed to your pedal effect using the Aux1 Send Output and return the processed signal into one free input, route that mixer input to a free channel in Ableton.

Please give us a proof you are a human being and not AI-generated hit-and-run fake.
