Hello, I'm trying to record to the SD card of my Tascam M12 using the live mode of my channel strip. The problem is: I don't see any lights on the Output Level indicators when I play my instrument, regardless of which channel I plug into. And unsurprisingly, there's no sound at the end of the recording.

I do have a signal on the monitor and sound on my speakers, my track is definitely in live mode, and I've tried pretty much every setting, but nothing works.

Do you have any suggestions, or have you encountered this issue before?

Thanks you

@Cren,I'm not an owner/user of the Model series, but TASCAM owner manuals usually have a pretty good "getting started" section to walk new users through the basic recording process. If you've followed those instructions and aren't printing to the SD card, the only thing that comes to mind is you forgot to press the channel "Rec" button.

If you have all the basics covered with no joy, then your best bet might be to look through the sticky threads or search the forum. You may find quickly something to get you pointed in the right direction.

If you do resolve the issue, please give back to the community by reporting the solution so others can benefit in the future.

Thank you for your reply. I carefully followed and read the user manual before posting the message. I did press the REC button to arm the track. I also searched the forum but couldn't find any similar topics using the keywords I entered.

Not enough details. As a starting point, did you:

- push off all SOLO buttons (LEDs unit)
- unmute the input channel (LED unlit)
- push the Main button in the input channel
- raise the channel fader
- unmute Main (LED unlit)
- raise the Main fader
- create a new SONG
- arm channel REC (LED lit)
- press the REC button in the transport section

Try describing exactly the signal routing on your Model 12, or shoot a video of the controls (preferably with steady hand) so we can get an idea of what is causing the "no signal" issue.

Post 18 ("No Sound" Solutions) in the Tips & Tricks sticky thread, may have a tip to help get you pointed in the right direction.

All the items on the list have been checked but still nothing. Oh, I just got signal and light back on my Output Level indicators by unpressing the AFL button on the FX channel, but still no sound when recording.

The LCD meter can help you understand what is happening, use the F buttons to scroll through the various screens. Anyway if the Main output meter is alive you must have some valid signal to record on SD, as long as you press the transport REC button (and then STOP when you are done).
The LCD meters can be used to verify if there is recorded material on SD.
