Well rats. Maybe I should have got a portastudio instead of the model 12.

That would depend on your application. One is designed to be a standalone DAW and the other is a live mixer with a multitrack recorder. 2 different animals. I would not hold my breath waiting for editing functions to be added, since the design philosophy was well explained in interviews with the designer. The Model series are mixers that record. Beyond that, you'll need an outside solution.

Could you mix on the console from the SD card, and record the mixdown to the DAW? If you can get the output into the DAW, then you can use the DAW as a master recorder.
