Hello.
New user of the model 12 here.
There are a couple of things that i'm not sure I understand from the manual and could use some clarification.
*sorry in advance if they sound dumb*

Q1.
- the 11/12 channels (MAIN BUS)
Let's say I record something on channel 7/8.
I understand that on channel 7/8, the track is there to be played back (after the recording).
But what about 11/12? Is it empty, or does it also have the recorded material?
If it's the latter and I start another recording on another channel (say, 9/10), will I just overwrite the previous recording?

Q2.
when i do a stereo wav export, is there a way to choose which channels are going to be part of the export?
Meaning, If I have recorded audio on channel 7/8 and 9/10, how do I choose to export only one of them in the file ?

I'm also trying to understand what kind of workflow is best (or more suitable for me at least).
(assuming I want to record a single stereo source and continue mixing in a DAW)
- record on channel 7/8
- stereo wav export
- delete 7/8
- change song name
- back to step 1.

Does that make sense, or is there a sharper way to do it?

thanks in advance, and any tips & feedback appreciated.

"Read The Sticky Threads". The Search function is also very helpful.
Might not hurt to find/watch a few "intro to Model 12" y'tubes.
And of course, "RTM"!

This is a highly complex piece o' gear that requires its' user to have at least a minimal level of familiarity with it and its' operation to be utilized effectively. You could save yourself a LOT of time learning on the go (read: "making mistakes") by studyin' up.

Good luck!

@peripouoxi, welcome to the community.

Re Q1:
11/12 is the 2Track stereo master recorder. It's always in "Record Standby" mode and starts recording the signal on the MAIN MIX L/R bus every time the master "REC" button is engaged.

Re Q2:
I'm not a user of the Model series, but it seems the "Stereo Mix Export" function applies only to the 2Track stereo master mix on 11/12.
On exporting tracks 1~10:
You may find the answer to exporting individual tracks in the Owner Manual section that addresses managing songs and/or the section on using a computer to transfer data.
A forum search using the term "exporting tracks may turn up useful information.
The sticky thread "Tutorial and Informational Videos for the 24/16/12" is also an excellent resource.
Keep in mind that the Models share many of the same features/functions.
Re workflow: There's no "best way". Workflow effectiveness and efficiency are the result of experimenting. With time and experience you'll find what works best for you.

The Model 12 always records the Main Mix on tracks 11-12 every time REC is pressed; OTH tracks 1 to 10 need to be REC-armed before pressing REC in order to store content on the SD card.
Recorded tracks are regular Wave mono files stored inside their own Song folder; all song projects are located in the MTR folder on SD card.
Export is a functionality that transforms tracks 11-12 mono wave files into a stereo wave file and places into the MUSIC folder on SD card.
If you happen to re-record over tracks 11-12, you can stop and press UNDO to get back to the original recording, otherwise the Main Mix will be overwritten with the new content.
All tracks of every song on SD card can be accessed from a computer for backup and/or DAW editing.
And now for the magic words: Read The Freaking Manual (including the Block Diagram).
Going blindly with the Model series won't get you very far, so keep the manual by you when using your Model 12.
