Model 12 USB-C adapter required?

Looking at at connectivity document for USB-C cables, I notice that Tascam suggests a USB_C adapter is required. I haven't had the need to use USB-C yet, but wonder if a plain 'ol USB-C to USB-C cable is sufficient.
