Hey guys. I'm new to this forum and I am considering to buy the model 24 mixer today.. However I have a question.
I tried google this, reading the manual and got even more confused. So I apologize if the question is already answered.. Here it goes :

I use logic X. I want to send my composition/stems from logic onto the model 24 on different tracks via the usb connection.

I will then eq, comp etc on the model 24,

And then reprint the master from the xlr output master to my outboard gear and into logic. (All analog output signal flow)

.. Is it true that.. I somehow cannot use the eq,comp etc on my individual tracks on the model 24, when sending tracks from logic to the individual tracks on the model 24 via the usb? Do they get bypassed? Or am I simply misunderstanding something?

Thank you on forehand

Hi Lawand... And welcome to the forum!

And yes... I'm sorry to say... it's true that you can't use the compression when recording/importing via USB. Check page 166 in the manual.... https://www.tascam.eu/en/docs/Model24_OM_EFS_RevE.pdf

The block diagram show that both "LowCut" & "Comp" are applied BEFORE the "mode-Switch" (line-in/PC/MTR). And therefore... the return signal to each channel from MTR and USB comes back in to the channel AFTER "Comp". Yup... I know... when "looking" at the mixer from above that doesn't make any sense since the "Comp-knob" are physically located below the mode switch.

So the only way to use the Comp-function is via "line-in" recording.

But... you could import the files, and then route them out via cables through SUB L-R and/ or Monitor 1-2, and back into a different channel/channels. And when recording them to the new channels you could apply compression.

Hope this helps to clarify this matter.:)

Yup... EQ and PAN and everything below the green "Comp-knob" works as one would expect...
Thankfully!;)

Nemas problemas! You're welcome! I have only had my own Model 24 about a year now, so I'm by no means a "pro" on Model 24, but are glad to help when I can. I'm very happy with mine and I can only congratulate you to a good choice. It's really nice with the "analogue feeling" about Model 24... it's like my old 244 Portastudio... but on steroids!
